Wincomm's Showcase delivers front flat surface for vandal-resistant kiosks

December 22, 2009

Wincomm has introduced a touchscreen innovation that allows a device's touchpanel to be sensed through store windows or vandal-resistant glass placed over or in front of the touch sensor.

The company's Showcase projected capacitive touch (PCT) technology allows for a unique indirect touch installation of the product, making it more resistant to the vandalism, scratches and dings common to public-access applications, according to the company.

The PCT sensor is made up of a grid comprised of ultra-thin capacitors, sensitive to a 20 mm distance, and the sensing element is embedded in a rugged substrate unexposed to external elements, giving it better reliability and a longer expected lifetime, according to Wincomm.
