The State of West Virginia is expected to receive nearly $45.7 million over the next five years through the federal Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan to develop EV charging stations, according to a Metro News report.
The plan calls for the EV charging stations no more than 50 miles apart. State Transportation Secretary Jimmy Wriston said the state has produced a plan that will do that but will seek a waiver for two exceptions. One is between Flatwoods and Charleston while the other is between Charleston and Beckley on the West Virginia Turnpike.
