LONDON - In a move to enhance its standing in the electronic gaming community, kiosk solutions provider WebKiosk has reached an agreement with gaming provider JPM to design wall-mounted gaming kiosks.
WebKiosk will provide the research and development, while JPM will manufacture the units at its factory in Cardiff, Wales. Specifics of the deal were not announced.
The WebKiosk-JPM deal was announced at the ATEI gaming show Jan. 22-24 in London. Three kiosks were displayed. Two displayed an electronic version of the television game show "Weakest Link," while the third kiosk showed other applications, including museum information, retail products, and ticketing systems.
But the core of the agreement will cover electronic gaming, such as entertainment and casino games played on terminals at pubs. Electronic gaming has proven particularly popular in Europe in recent years, though kiosk manufacturers are still feeling their way into the industry (See story: Europe's kiosk gamble).
"We see the ATEI show as a first step in a long relationship, where WebKiosk brings novel kiosk designs to the amusement marketplace, in a quick and timely manner, to a wide audience, via the JPM distribution network," WebKiosk technical director Ian Tracey said in a news release.
