Web kiosks coming to Czech Republic

March 21, 2002

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - Czech Telecom, a Czech telecommunication operator, has awarded King Products Inc. a contract to place interactive multimedia kiosks in the Czech Republic, according to a King Products news release.

The telecommunications company will install King's Plynth kiosks and M200 Web payphones in major Czech cities beginning in October. The kiosks are part of Czech Telecom's commitment to modernize the Czech Republic, the release stated.

Czech Telecom will manage the machines using King's Kingnet management system. Kingnet is an open software platform designed for public Internet applications. It offers secure content management and the ability to tailor content to individual kiosk locations.

Bertrand Meis, King's president and chief executive officer, said that the agreement was his company's first in Eastern Europe.

In May, King announced that it was providing Web payphones to the Cyberkiosks division of Stone Telecom, a UK and Ireland-based company.

King Products Inc. is a member of the Ascom Group, a Swiss telecommunications, service automation and energy systems company. It trades on the Canadian Venture Exchange under the symbol YKK.

Czech Telecom operates four million telephone lines. Through its subsidiary Eurotel Praha it has a presence in the Czech mobile services market. With the recent establishment of Imaginet, an e-business subsidiary, Czech Telecom plans to position itself as the country's leading e-commerce service provider.
