Residents of Santa Monica, California recently had a chance to view a prototype wayfinding kiosk at an open house event. The plan calls for 55 to be installed in the city, according to a smdp.com report.
The public was able to interact with the user interface of the kiosk, which is eight feet tall, features a 55-inch display, provides maps and is ADA compliant. The open house was held at the Bergamot Station Arts Center.
The kiosks will incorporate a Wi-Fi hotspot and a camera that allows people to take selfies.
The kiosks will be operated by IKE and Big Outdoors under a partnership arrangement and are expected to raise $5 million for the city.
