Water kiosk slashes carbon footprint by more than 70%

July 14, 2010

Orlando, Fla.-based water and ice marketer Blue Wave has announced that it will unveil its self-service ice and water vending kiosk at the 2010 Florida Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association Annual Convention & Trade Show, July 17-21 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Fla.

The kiosk utilizes what the company calls cutting-edge technology to produce pure ice and water on-site, on-demand. This eliminates 50 to 80 percent of the retail cost, slashes the carbon footprint by more than 70 percent and significantly reduces the environmental impact related to the current distribution, storage and trucking of ice and water.

Blue Wave is meeting the demand for clean, pure water and ice while eliminating approximately 75 percent of the waste. They accomplish this by drastically reducing the costs — financial and environmental — associated with distribution. Using the latest seven-step filtration process, Blue Wave delivers ice on-demand and bulk water refills for five gallon, one gallon and even chilled, individual servings.

By manufacturing the product onsite, Blue Wave virtually eliminates the cost of manufacturing and distribution and reduces plastic use and fuel consumption.

Blue Wave offers store owners a zero-cost installation option and real time monitoring and reporting, as well as a way to attract today's environmentally-conscious and economically-minded customers. They can drive traffic and build their green image in the community.
