Voltpost, a climate tech company working to improve access to electric vehicle charging, has closed on its seed funding round, according to a press release. The round was led by RWE Energy Transition Investments, an investment vehicle of global renewable energy company RWE, along with Twynam Funds Management, Exelon Foundation, Good News Ventures, Climate Capital and other investors. Funding will be used to commercialize the Voltpost platform and deploy lamppost chargers.
From May 2022 to March 2023, Voltpost participated in the DOT Studio, a partnership between the New York City Department of Transportation and Newlab. The program enabled Voltpost to pilot lamppost charging in NYC and make progress towards the DOT's goal to install 10,000 curbside chargers.
The company is also conducting a second pilot at the Detroit Smart Parking Lab in Michigan supported by Next Energy, Ford, Bosch, Bedrock and the Michigan Economic Development Corp. The company is participating in the Plug and Play Detroit Mobility program, developing a Voltpost charging project in Chicago.
The amount of the seed funding was not disclosed.
