Vision-Box biometric solutions look to the future of travel

May 7, 2013

Vision-Box, providers of electronic identity solutions and automated border control systems, announced it will showcase its view of a "journey in the airport of the future," at the Europe Meets Americas conference in Aruba, May 5-8.

The company will present solutions that encompass automated border control, security checkpoint and self-boarding e-gates, enrollment/check-in kiosks and desktops. The solutions use multimodal biometrics (face, finger and iris) and highlight an integrated process approach that the company said provides passengers with a more pleasant journey while also guaranteeing border security, the announcement said.

All systems are deployed on top of vb i-shield, an end-to-end communication platform which acts as the middleware between the airport's peripherals and backend systems, according to the announcement. The platform also provides the user interfaces that allow the airport, airlines and border control representatives to access all relevant operational and business information regarding the passenger's journey.

"We are very excited to present this integrated offer in a conference that joins together Europe and the Americas," said Miguel Leitmann, SVP of Vision-Box, adding that the system offers significant benefits "in terms of empowering the passenger, delivering a holistic view and management of all systems to airports and airlines and providing tighter security and efficiency gains to border control authorities."
