SAN DIEGO - Virtgame.comhas moved one step closer in its efforts to make betting easier for computer and kiosk users in Nevada. Primeline Race Book, a Web-, computer-, and kiosk-based race wagering service developed by Virtgame, is in its final testing stages before being released to customers, according to a company news release.
The service will be available to customers wagering in Nevada only and will act as a complement to Virtgame's Primeline Sports Book, a service that allows clients to place wagers on sporting events using a software system that is currently available for use by land-based casinos. The service was approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board in 1998 and is offered through Coast Hotel and Casinos, Inc., which owns and operates the Barbary Coast, Gold Coast, and Orleans hotel and casinos in Las Vegas.
Virtgame's Primeline system allows customers to wager on sporting events with a variety of betting options, including straight wagers on individual events and parlay wagers, where clients can roll winning bets over to other events. The system utilizes Virtgame's proprietary e-BorderControl technology, which is designed to allow for state-controlled wagering in a closed-loop environment.
Virtgame's expansion of the service on the Internet received a boost on June 14 when Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn signed Assembly Bill 466, which mandates the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission to study Internet gambling technology and approve them for use in the state. The first on-line casinos are not expected to be licensed until late 2002 or early 2003, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
