Vendor releases line of touchscreen consoles

MARKHAM, Ontario -- Compar Corp., a supplier of standard and custom display, kiosk, touch monitor, battery and interconnection solutions, recently launched Compar POS, three new touchscreens designed for point-of-sale applications.

Compar POS touchscreen technology and visual interface can help increase accuracy and reduce human error at the register through faster, easier everyday use and employee training, according to a news release.

The Galaxy Display Console is a 15-inch TFT monitor offering an anodized aluminium enclosure and 1,024-by-768 maximum resolution with a 60-degree to horizontal display tilt. A variety of mounting and configuration options are available, including rotating counter base mount, desktop with keyboard, rotating counter mount and customer display. This console weighs in at 30 pounds, the release said. Its height is adjustable.

The Eclipse Display Console is TFT LCD with an 800-by-600, 18-bit/262, 144-color display in an aluminium enclosure, according to the release. The adjustable screen tilts the LCD to the desired viewing angle with a variety of mounting options, including table-top and wall mount. Measuring 12.1 inches and weighing in at 30 pounds, the Eclipse is designed for restaurants and other confined-space applications.

The Discovery Display Console is a 15-inch TFT LCD with an Elo Surface Acoustic Wave touchscreen in a powder-coated metal enclosure. It offers 1,024-by-768 maximum resolution with a height-adjustable, 60-degrees to horizontal display tilt, the release said. A variety of mounting and configuration options are available, including standard desktop base and rotating counter mount.

Prices for the consoles were not disclosed.
