SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Open-system marketer Lindows.com Inc. broadened its position in the low-end networked PC and workstation arena this week with the announcement of a $169 base-price BusinessStation service-oriented variant of its Webstation machine.
According to a report on Tech Web, the new PC is aimed at the work terminal, public kiosk, retail information hub, school and library markets. A $10-per-machine monthly service charge provides BusinessStation owners with a customizable home page that is auto-launched for each new user.
BusinessStations run the LindowsCD version of the LindowsOS 4.0 operating system, and provide Web browsing, e-mail, and multimedia playback, along with Java and Microsoft Office Suite compatibility, the company said.
