A motor vehicle registration renewal kiosk has been installed at the Pine River Public Library in Bayfield, Colorado, according to The Durango Herald.
Users must have their vehicle renewal postcard or their license plate number to enter into the machine, and can pay by credit card or check. The kiosk produces the receipt and tags for the license plate.
La Plata County is one of 10 counties using the kiosks under a Colorado Department of Revenue trial program. The kiosks have been used since the early 1990s, and Colorado is the eighth state to use them, said Tiffany Parker, the La Plata County clerk.
The trial program will last for three years. Users pay a $3 fee per transaction, plus a credit card or check fee.
The kiosks could eventually provide driver's license renewals, Parker said.
Later this year, another kiosk will be placed at the county clerk's office at Bodo Industrial Park in Durango.
