Motorists will soon be able to register vehicles at self-serve kiosks at Cub Foods stores in the metro Twin Cities area, according to a report in The Star-Tribune.
The Driver and Vehicle Services will install kiosks at 15 supermarket sites, said Tony Anderson, DVS director of operations.
DVS Now kiosks use scanning and touchscreen technology to securely update registration information, according to the organization's website. Step-by-step instructions, along with optional voice assistance, are provided on-screen in English or Spanish.
Users scan the barcode on their renewal notice or type in their license plate number and the last four digits of their VIN on the touchscreen.
Along with the total fees due listed on the renewal notice, there is a $4.95 service fee for each vehicle renewed at the kiosk. The kiosks accept credit or debit cards.
There is an additional 2.49% credit card processing fee for credit card payments.
The machine will print a receipt and the vehicle registration tabs.
