A recreation center in Vandalia, Ohio has begun hosting a self-service CPR training kiosk, according to a WDTN 2 report. The kiosk is the result of a partnership between the Vandalia Fire Department, The American Heart Association and Kettering Health.
The kiosk trains hands-only CPR, as studies show it is equally as effective as conventional mouth-to-mouth and people are more likely to feel comfortable performing it on another person.
"There are only two steps. Step one, you call 911, and step two, you push hard and fast in the center of the chest," Tim Lewis, community impact director for the AMA, told the news outlet. "But with the kiosk, what it does is it takes those steps and it makes them even more simple. So it tells you, it gives you a lesson on how to assess the situation and how to figure out if a person needs help."
The CPR training kiosk will move across the Miami Valley in the coming months.
