Utica, New York recently installed automated pay stations at four of its downtown parking areas: the Utica Place Garage, the Union Street parking lot, the Washington Street Garage and the lot next to the Stanley Theater, according to a Daily Sentinel report.

The city previously employ staff to collect parking fees at these locations but decided to install pay stations to make collections more efficient.

The automated pay stations were supported by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

The rate is $2 per hour with an $18 daily maximum.

The Common Council will consider raising the monthly rate from $40 to $50 while the downtown living rate will remain $25 per year.
