The United States Postal Service has announced it will do a test run on kiosk scanners for eBay sellers. This kiosk is designed to help sellers get an initial scan on packages they send through the mail, according to areport by eCommerce Bytes.
"One of the tests we're going to do with eBay is build a system where you'll be able to walk in, you won't have to stand in line, you'll be able to go over to a kiosk, you'll be able to scan your package, we'll give you a receipt," Cliff Rucker, USPS vice president of sales, said at the eBay OPEN event in Las Vegas that took place on July 26-29.
The USPS is also working on a new scanning language to send different messages regarding a package's status. For example, instead of saying, "out for deliver," the message might say, "your package has left your carrier unit and will be delivered by your letter carrier," according to the report.
The USPS will also offer more details regarding the package's status, such as daily updates on its whereabouts.
