USPS awards $4.1-million contract for HR kiosks

June 8, 2004

The U.S. Postal Service on June 4, 2003, awarded a $4.1 million contract to Kiosk Information Systems Inc. for kiosks called Personnel Central. The rollout begins this July.

The kiosks will provide human-resources information to postal employees who do not have regular access to computers on the job.

KIS will oversee hardware integration for the project. Netkey Inc. will oversee software integration, according to Matt Szechenyi, district sales manager for Netkey.

"The kiosks will be placed in 610 postal service distribution centers around the country," said Szechenyi. He said the RFP for the project went out five months ago.

"KIS' proposal was considered to represent the best value, price and other factors," said Mark L.Hopkins, contracting officer in the U.S.P.S. Information Technology Commodity Management Center, in the award letter.
