USA Technologies partners to offer next-gen cashless wireless transactions

October 11, 2004

MALVERN, Pa. - Credit cards and other cashless forms of payment soon will be coming to vending machines and other consumer-oriented, self-service devices across the United States. This is now available through a wireless specialized telemetry solution announced today by AT&T Wireless and USA Technologies. Under agreement's terms, USA Technologies will provide nationwide availability of its e-Port wireless credit card processing and non-cash transaction services via the AT&T Wireless GSM/GPRS Network.

The AT&T Wireless-powered USA Technologies solution will make wireless credit card payment technology and networking of distributed assets available to a variety of industries, including vending, entertainment, hospitality and kiosks. The AT&T Wireless GSM/GPRS network is available in more than 7,500 cities and towns, and along many interstate highways across the country.

With the USA Technologies solution, vending companies, kiosk operators and others now have an economically viable way to accept a variety of electronic payments because they no longer have to incur the expense of pulling a dedicated telephone line. These businesses will have greater flexibility in where they can place their machines and their customers will have the convenience of an assortment of payment options.

"Together, we will enable everyday machines - whether it be a vending machine or a kiosk - to wirelessly process credit/debit and cashless payment," said Stephen P. Herbert, president and COO, USA Technologies.

"We're fast becoming a cashless society and innovative solutions such as those provided by USA Technologies give companies in the vending and other industries a reliable, cost-effective way to tap into this trend," said Charlie Bolton, vice president of corporate markets group for AT&T Wireless.
