U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyoming, has introduced a bill to require national parks to accept cash for entrance fees, according to a press release.

The Protecting Access to Recreation with Cash Act is intended to ensure that all Americans have access to national parks. At the present time, 21 national parks have stopped accepting cash.

"Having a credit card should not be a requirement to enjoy the great outdoors," Lummis, chair of the Senate Western Caucus, said in the press release. "Allowing the most universal form of money to be used is the best way to maximize the amount of people who visit and enjoy these one-of-a-kind icons."

The bill is co-sponsored by U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, R-Kansas, Jim Risch, R-Idaho, Shelley Moore Capito, R-West Virginia, Kevin Cramer, R-North Dakota, Mike Crapo, R-Indiana, John Barrasso, R-Wyoming and Dan Sullivan, R-Arkansas.
