Many public EV charging stations in the U.S. do not work properly, according to a recent J.D. Power report, as reported by Bloomberg.
The survey of more than 11,550 drivers revealed one in five failed to charge during a visit to an EV station. Most drivers (72%) blamed faulty equipment.
Respondents gave the best ratings to Tesla chargers.
For level 2 chargers, the most common types, those deployed by Volta Inc. and ChargePoint Holdings Inc., came in second and third in satisfaction, respectively.
Poor driver satisfaction threatens to impede EV car sales, a key to President Biden's plan to reduce carbon emissions, according to the report.
