PITTSBURGH - The rush to get home for the holidays is being eased for US Airways (NYSE: U) travelers at Pittsburgh International Airport. The airline on Dec. 20 unveiled its self-service check-in kiosks at the airport, bringing to five the number of airports where US Airways offers the service.
The check-in kiosks allow customers the convenience of bypassing ticket counters. The touchscreen kiosks allow flyers to purchase tickets, obtain boarding passes, select seats, and check bags. Flight information is also available at the kiosk.
US Airways, which has a hub at Pittsburgh International, has deployed 12 of its E-Ticket kiosks at the airport, along with three kiosks at security checkpoints at the airport.
Pittsburgh International is the second city in Pennsylvania serviced by US Airways kiosks; Philadelphia International Airport was added in mid-November (See story: US Airways kiosks taxi into Philadelphia). The airline also has kiosks at airports in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Boston.
US Airways plans to have more than 300 kiosks in place throughout the country by the end of the first quarter of 2002.
