Unisys Stealth secures data on Malaysian kiosks

IT company Unisys Corp. has deployed its Stealth solution to secure sensitive data on Angkasa kiosks.

April 19, 2016

IT company Unisys Corp. has announced the deployment of its Stealth solution to secure sensitive data on Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia self-service kiosks. Angkasa represents 12,596 cooperatives — i.e., member-owned organizations — across the country of Malaysia, according to the press release.

Angkasa uses its kiosks to provide salary deduction information and loan balance details to its members. The Unisys Stealth software is designed to create a "secure communication channel between the kiosks and the servers in Angkasa's data center," according to the release.

The solution provides microsegments in an enterprise system to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the data. If the network were to be attacked, Stealth could contain the attack within a micro segment, the release said.

"Unisys Security Insights research found that one in three Malaysians expect personal information held by their financial institutions will be accessed by an unauthorized person within a year, so being seen to secure the kiosk channels is a key way for Angkasa to build trust among its members," said Tony Windever, vice president and general manager of enterprise solutions at Unisys Asia Pacific. "And Unisys Stealth's combination of encryption and microsegmentation is the best way to provide such protection."
