July 23, 2008

SHROPSHIRE, England — England's Nisa Supermarket is trialing self-service DVD-rental technology from The Movie Booth, an England-based DVD-rental-kiosk company that is targeting kiosk placements in supermarkets and convenience stores throughout the United Kingdom.

According to a press release, The Movie Booth hopes to build on the DVD-rental example set in the United States, whereDVD-rental machines outnumber the amount of traditional DVD-rental stores. The United States has some 7,000 self-service DVD-rentail kiosks placed in grocery and convenience stores.

The Movie Booth has launched its kiosks in retail stores in Ireland, and it placed one of its kiosks at a Threshers store in England last week.

"We are now well placed in many of the biggest retail names in the business, and expect kiosks placed in supermarkets, off licenses and convenience stores to be the most successful that we launch," said Carlos Marco, managing director of The Movie Booth.
