LONDON -- Unfortunately with the holidays can comes an increase in crime and traffic accidents. Christmas shoppers in two of this region's largest centers are getting the chance to keep up with police news from the Avon and Somerset Constabulary via interactive kiosks.
The malls each have a kiosk with the latest news from the constabulary's award-winning Web site. Shoppers will be able to have live access to police news and services, as well as pass their comments on to the force.
The kiosks feature a live news service, which covers details of major traffic collisions, appeals for witnesses and other news across the force area. There is also a Crimestoppers "wanted" gallery with pictures, and video clips of people with whom the police would like to speak in connection with crimes in the area.
The latest job vacancies within the force are also on show on the screen, as details on how to become a police officer.
The kiosk features an on-screen keyboard where users can submit information on any of the Crimestoppers cases featured, anonymously if they wish, as well as make a general inquiry. Each kiosk also features a built-in printer, so people can take information away with them.
