UK football stadium installs frictionless checkout kiosk

The Leicester City Football Club in Leicester, U.K. has installed a fictionless kiosk to speed the purchase of food for fans at the club's King Power Stadium, the first such installation in Europe, the club announced on its website.

Operated by Levy UK+I, a division of Compass Group UK and Ireland, the kiosk allows customers to tap a payment card, pick up the items they want and exit the gates to the concourse. The payment card is automatically charged.

The technology uses anonymized shopper tracking that recognizes the selected products and adds them to a virtual basket. The system does not use facial recognition.
