UAE vending entrepreneur hones in on women’s health needs

Alyazi Al Muhairi, an Emirati entrepreneur, has established a business operating vending machines that provide sanitary pads for women, according to a khaleejtimes.com report. Al Muhairi came across the need for the products while working in policy making for a government agency, where she noticed a lack of washroom space for women.

Her business, Coven, provides the machines in offices and public places.

The company surveyed more than 500 women and found 99% said sanitary pad machines would be welcome in common areas.

Some public restrooms already had machines, however, the machines required coins and the quality of the pads was poor.

Al Muhairi designed her own pads to put in the machines and said the pads have been tested to ensure they are hypoallergenic.
