Two-sided lockers empower automated restaurants

June 1, 2016

Apex Supply Chain Technologies has announced the launch of AnyWhere self-serve lockers that restaurants can use to fulfill customers' carryout orders. The two-sided lockers — which provide both hot and cold storage — can be loaded directly from the food preparation area, according to a press release.

Restaurant customers place their order via smartphone and then receive a text message with a QR code when their food is ready for pickup. At the locker, the customer scans the QR code to open the locker and collect the carryout order.

The AnyWhere locker features a modular design that can be fitted into a counter or wall. This design allows easy loading of load food or drinks from the backside and easy customer access from the front, the release said.

"With Apex AnyWhere two-sided lockers, we're revolutionizing the order-ahead and pickup experience for both customers and restaurant staff," said Kent Savage, Apex founder and CEO. "Customers can order and pay via the e-commerce platform, and staff can load the lockers without leaving the food prep area. Customers can then skip past the line, pick up their food and be on their way with no waiting. It's the better way to do takeout."
