HOUSTON - A check-cashing solution involving an ATM manufacturer, a financial services company, a technology solutions provider and a national tax preparation company has helped consumers at more than 59 locations cash more than $35 million in refund checks.
According to a release from BVIG Financial, a Houston company catering to the unbanked market, customers who receive refund checks at Jackson Hewitt Inc. tax preparation locations can use a specially-equipped TidelATM and receive cash in two minutes or less.
The special technology is provided by Dallas-based CashWorks Inc., which provides its PayPort technology to the solution.
BVIG, in the release, said it had completed a multi-year, exclusive agreement with CashWorks, and a distributor agreement with Tidel. In addition to the Jackson Hewitt locations, the solution has been installed in an unspecified number of independent tax preparation locations throughout the United States.
