The Transportation Security Administration at the Tampa International Airport has started to use new authentication technology to improve the passenger screening experience, according to an airport-technology.com report.
The airport now uses nine additional credential authentication technology units.
The CAT unit will scan the traveler's ID, which will then inform the officer of its validity. It will also verify the passenger's identity and flight status, and check for fraudulence.
The unit will also check if the passenger has been prescreened by the airline agent. Passengers will not have to produce their flight boarding passes again.
