Transnet Wireless brings kiosks to state park

November 10, 2004

PLANTATION, Fla. - Transnet Wireless is establishing a national network of Wi-Fi Hot Spots through a local distributorship program where the Hot Spot equipment is placed in locations at no cost to the location owner. The hardware, maintenance and monthly Internet connection fees are all paid for by the local distributor, who profits from usage fees. A percentage of the revenues are also shared with the location.

The first kiosk has been installed in Pere Marquette State Park - which has comprehensive lodging accommodations and conference facilities. Chris Hill, systems and licensing manager for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, said the Transnet installation will bring Illinois' parks to the forefront of technological advancement, and improve the park-going experience.

"We see the Transnet Wireless deal as a benefit to the business members of the camping community," Hill said. "They can keep in touch."
