TransCard launches Ruby Gift Card kiosk

The prepaid product provider TransCard has announced the release of the RubyGift Card kiosk, with a $100 monthly leasing option for shopping mall operators.

The Ruby kiosk allows mall patrons to purchase a gift cards to any mall merchant without the need to interact with customer service or a mall employee.

TransCard, which purchased HQ Gift Cards in November 2012, developed the self-service kiosk as a way to combine processing, program management and technology for mall operators around the country, according to the news release.

"After studying the kiosk market, we've realized that the economics of the self-service kiosk is out of line with the market reality," said Craig Fuller, CEO of TransCard.

"We don't believe mall operators should have to pay a lot of money for having a kiosk in their facility. Because we generate income from our processing and program management services, we are able to offer the kiosk systems at a low cost to any of our market participants. What's more, because we own the entire process — program management, processing, and kiosk hardware — we are able to rapidly deploy a customer rollout in less than 30 days."
