WALLINGFORD, Conn. - Printer maker TransAct Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: TACT) has a new printer.
The Ithaca Series 850 thermal ticket printer was designed specifically for casino operators and gaming supply OEMs. They requested TransAct's assistance in creating better solutions to cashless technologies for slot machine applications.
The 850 prints five inches-per-second, which reduces the possibility of a slot machine player grabbing a ticket before it prints. It has an optional read-after-print sensor using a void and reprint function that enables the printer to verify that the ticket was printed correctly. It can void a misprinted ticket and immediately issue a valid replacement ticket to the player.
Bruce Rowe, corporate vice president of slots and research and development at Harrah's Entertainment Inc., said the company was not satisfied with available printing and verification capabilities. He said TransAct's printer will help Harrah's expand its customer relationship management system to more than 38,000 slot machines.
TransAct makes transaction-based printers and related products under the ITHACA, MAGNETEC and TransAct.com brand names. The Company focuses on the kiosk, point-of-sale, gaming and lottery, financial services, and Internet markets.
