January 18, 2017

Kerala Tourism is deploying virtual reality kiosks at major Indian airports this year, accoding to the Business Standard in India. Nandakumar K P, deputy tourism director, said the first kiosk was installed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at Delhi last month, while another is being installed in Mumbai. Kiosks are also planned for Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai.

A two-minute film watched with virtual reality headsets features a houseboat floating in backwaters of the southern state of Kerala.

Nandakumar said the kiosk marks the latest marketing initiative of Kerala Tourism, and it has drawn a lot of attention since becoming operational in the nation's capital. He said the organization is focusing on adding more quality to existing products and improving their sustainability rather than increasing their numbers and developing new destinations.
