TouchSystems introduces new all-in-one units

March 28, 2002

AUSTIN, Texas -- Additional speed and power are the goals behind TouchSystems Corp.'snew generation of all-in-one touchscreen computer units, which the company began introducing in March.

TouchSystems has introduced two next-generation units, OpenTouch II, which is targeted for kiosk and industrial enclosures, and IndustraTouch II, which is designed for build-to-sell retailers.

OpenTouch II features 1 GHz processing speed, twice the system and flash disk memory (512MB and 288MB, respectively) of the company's first-generation unit, and up to 80 GB of hard-drive capacity. The unit, which runs on an Intel/Celeron PIII processor, is available in 12-inch and 15-inch LCD screens. Units with Pentium IV processors will be available in the second quarter of 2002.

IndustaTouch II offers many of the same features as OpenTouch II, and is designed with only four screws attaching the stand to the main system. The ease of detaching the stand from the main system cuts down on footprints, according to company officials.
