Touchscreen kiosks allow users to see HVAC data

October 3, 2004

PELLA, Iowa - By harnessing the power of the new Metasys Extended Architecture, Central College in Pella, Iowa, is able to educate and inform its audience in a new and powerful way.

Visitors to Central College's Vermeer Science Center experience data from the Johnson Control's system firsthand through the use of an interactive touchscreen kiosk, thanks to Quality Attributes Software.

Quality Attributes, a provider of graphic design solutions for the HVAC industry, uses animation to display information about the photovoltaic system including the temperature of the solar panels, the light level being received and the energy produced; consumption totals are also displayed. The kiosks' ability to demonstrate the use and benefits of alternative energy helped the Vermeer Science Center earn a point towards its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification. Quality Attributes also developed an interactive building directory with the ability to search by professor or room number.
