Toronto could install library kiosk at busy train station

August 8, 2010

The Toronto Public Library is considering installing an automated kiosk at the city's Union Station, where patrons could check out books at any time of day, the Toronto Star reports.

The cost of just one library kiosk is estimated to be about $200,000 (Canadian), with another $15,000 per year in additional ongoing operating costs, and library administrators think the kiosks
can expand services without the cost of building a new branch library.
