The San Miguel Corporation in the Philippines will deploy complete cashless and contactless highway toll payment on Nov. 2, as required by the government, according to a press release.
Ramon Ang, SMC president and COO, said the systems have been reconfigured along with additional lanes on the expressways and the installation of RFID stickers for all types of vehicles.
Ang said that the Skyway now has 130 electronic toll collection ETC-capable lanes while NAIAX has 36 lanes, Star has 58 lanes, SLEX has 134 lanes, TPLEX has 37 lanes and is being upgraded to 52 lanes.
Toll tellers affected by lane automation will be reassigned to other areas.
Motorists can reload their RFID account online and at select banks and retailers.
