The Brownwood, Texas public library has introduced a legal services kiosk, according to a brownwoodnews.com report. Last week, a library in Austin reported a similar kiosk.
The "virtual court" kiosk in Brownwood is available through the Texas Legal Services Center as part of its Virtual Court Access Project to improve low-income Texans' access to free legal services and is funded by the Texas Access to Justice Foundation.
The kiosk includes a scanner to scan documents that need to be sent to another town. It also includes a microphone and camera for virtual court hearings.
Patrons can also download legal forms, documents and legal research, and can communicate with Texas Legal Services.
