Lawmakers in Texas are working to create a legal foundation for EV charging station infrastructure, according to a report in The Texas Tribune.
Senate Bill 1001, passed by the state senate, provides a framework for registering and inspecting the charging stations.
Senate Bill 1002, which is scheduled for a state senate vote, creates guidelines for building and paying for charging stations.
The state department of transportation has developed an infrastructure plan to install stations every 50 miles on designated interstates and every 70 miles in other areas.
The federal government has allocated $400 million for Texas under the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Companies will submit proposals to the state to build the stations.
