A monument committee in Denton County, Texas, voted to keep a Confederate statue, but will add kiosks with an anti-slavery message next to the monument, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle.
Two kiosks positioned on both sides of the monument will show interviews with local veterans and the history of slavery in Denton County.
Thomas Johns, a Denton County resident and former University of North Texas student, said he was satisfied with the recommendation, but said the kiosks could detract from the artistic elements of the statue.
