Customers at the Tesco Fulham Reach Express in London will be able to walk up to a scan-free checkout kiosk and receive a list of the products they have picked up, not having to spend any time scanning each item, according to an announcement on the company's website. They can check the list and then pay in the usual way. Customers who use the checkout-free option are sent a receipt for their purchases within a few minutes of leaving the store.

There is no need to use the Tesco grocery app to use the scan-free checkouts.

The technology is currently only available at the single GetGo store in Fulham.

The three other GetGo stores at High Holborn, London, Chiswell St., London and Aston University in Birmingham offer a mobile GetGo option where customers pick items, scan the app and walk out, as well as self-service kiosks or attended checkout lanes.

"We will be watching closely to see how customers react to this potential new option of having a list of their shopping presented to them automatically," Sarah Quiggan, head of store customer experience, said in the announcement.
