A community center in South Salt Lake, Utah, has a telemedicine kiosk that offers translation in 250 languages, according to technical.ly.
Globo, a language services platform, developed the cloud-based, pay-by-the-minute language interpreter solution kiosk with support from Intermountain, American Well, a health care provider, and United Way. The consultations cost $3.
The Intermountain Connect Care Kiosk has a blood pressure cuff, an otoscope and a thermometer that users can self-operate to provide physicians with information. The translation feature makes sense in a city where around 40 languages are spoken and an estimated 2,000 refugees have settled.
Globo markets the platform to health care providers, insurers and financial institutions.
