AMD Global Telemedicine Inc. has announced the launch of the Patient Assessment Terminal. This terminal allows the patient to receive a consultation on one screen while the clinician works on documentation and charts for the patient on another screen, according to a press release.
The device is designed to act as a wall station and can connect with other telemedicine devices such as examination cameras, digital stethoscopes, ultrasound probes and more. Companies can also integrate video conferencing software into the patient side of the terminal, according to the press release.
"As more healthcare organizations are setting up telemedicine stations in every room, it is a natural fit that customers are looking for a telemedicine system that can be a permanent station," said Eric Bacon, vice president of finance and operations at AMD Global Telemedicine. "Healthcare practitioners want telemedicine devices to be connected and ready for a patient exam and PAT eliminates the additional time involved with 'plug and play' scenarios."
The company plans to unveil PAT at the American Telemedicine Association Conference, May 15–17 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
