TeamLinux, JAYD team up to load up smart cards

August 21, 2002

CINCINNATI -- Kiosk deployment firm TeamLinux Corp. has entered into a strategic partnership with smart card producer JAYD to produce top-up card services at TeamLinux kiosks.

The first kiosk deployment of the TeamLinux-JAYD partnership will occur in the Boston area, where JAYD has offered a smart card program for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority since November of 2001. The two companies did not announce when the partnership would roll out its first units.

Under the program, smart card users will be able to add value to their cards at TeamLinux-designed kiosks using their debit or credit cards.

TeamLinux chief executive officer Dan Maher said the combination of his company's kiosk expertise and JAYD's smart card technology would strengthen his company's position.

"JAYD's products and expertise superbly complement our kiosk technology," Maher said in a news release. "Our relationship with JAYD expands our product capabilities and business."
