Talking kiosks speed driver's license renewal in Mississippi
August 10, 2010
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) is using talking self-service kiosks at driver's license facilities so state residents can quickly renew their driver's licenses, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Since a pilot program last year introduced seven machines across the state, DPS has expanded the effort with 24 more kiosks. The kiosk technology is provided to the state without charge by L-1 Identity Solutions of Billerica, Mass. L-1 charges the user a $3 transaction fee, added to the renewal cost, a state official told the paper.
