The Tacoma Needle Exchange in Tacoma, Washington, will install three naloxone vending machines across Pierce County as part of a $200,000 initiative to help people in need reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, according to a report in The News Tribune.
The first machine will be installed at the Recovery Cafe in Orting next month, with the other locations to be determined.
Opioid-related overdose has become the most common cause of accidental death in the county, according to the county medical examiner.
The machines will offer the medication, commonly known as Narcan, free to anyone in need.
