SAN JOSE, Calif. - Interface solutions manufacturer Synaptics Inc. and English electronic display firm Zytronic PLC have reached an agreement to develop a new line of capacitive touchscreen panels.
Synaptics will develop the electronic controller and software, while Zytronic will design the glass sensor. The companies believe the glass panel will make the touchscreen an attractive option for companies deploying outdoor, unattended applications.
The companies plan to target the panels for use with ATMs, gas pumps, interactive kiosks and web-enabled telephones.
"Utilizing Synaptics precision capacitive sensing technology, we will be able to provide customers with clearer, rugged, accurate and tightly integrated touchscreen solutions," John Kennair, Zytronic chairman, said in a news release.
