Northern Rail, a U.K. railway, deactivated its self-service ticket machines last week due to a suspected ransomware attack, according to a railway-technology.com report. The attack has caused an outage to the servers operating the machines.

The company, which installed 621 ticket machines in May, said customer and payment data has not been compromised.

The company said the incident is under investigation and has advised customers to purchase tickets at the ticket offices or the company app or website.
