Big Y World Class Market has reintroduced self-checkout kiosks in some of its western Massachusetts stores after removing them in 2011 when the company felt they were creating customer confusion, according to a masslive.com report. The chain has also added the kiosks to stores that had previously not had them.
The company retained the kiosks in eastern Massachusetts and Connecticut stores it had acquired since 2011.
Stop & Shop, a competitor, added more kiosks following a strike in the spring.
Big Y World Class Market declined to comment.
