Super Clamp technology by DVS applied for international patents

April 21, 2002

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Digital Video Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:

DVID), a developer of systems for digital video applications, today announced the availability of its "Super Clamp" technology. Applications for international patents have been applied for this invention, which DVS claims greatly improves the playability of optical storage media such as DVD (digital versatile disc), VCD (video compact disc) and SVCD (super VCD).

Super Clamp technology has been developed to address the difficulties of conventional disc players in reading data stored on a warped disc. Poor mastering, replication and bonding processes, as well as heat or other factors during storage or display can cause a disc to warp. With this technology, the disc is flattened while it spins in the disc drive, so that a warped disc can still be played as a flat one.

DVS specializes in the development and application of digital video technologies. With a focus on DVD applications, the company develops and markets DVD loaders for DVD players, DVD-ROM drives and other peripherals for personal computers and video engines for kiosks, for the consumer electronic, computer peripherals and commercial video markets.
